CCFL Divison 3A

Heyward Celtic 2, Tullamore Rovers 0.

Heyward Celtic continued to impress in Division 3A and look like serious contenders for the title now after a home victory over Tullamore Rovers in Mountmellick in Sunday. Two fine strikes in the first half condemned the Tullamore side to defeat but they only have themselves to blame after a very sluggish opening 45 in which they were well off the pace. Rovers improved vastly in the second half and dominated as the home side retreated and a goal for Rovers would have made an entertaining finale. JP O’Leary, Derek Dolan and Ronan Kelly all had opportunities but the Rovers goal never came. Tullamore Rovers manager Alan James was disappointed with the result but took heart from the spirited sound half performance. Rovers had some good performers in the second half but the most impressive displays came from Mark Kelly in midfield and Billy Harvey in defence.
Tullamore Rovers would like to thank DeBruns Bar for their continued support.
