CCFL Division 3A

Tullamore Rovers 1, Round Tower Rovers 2.

Despite another good display Tullamore Rovers were beaten at home for the second consecutive week. Rovers have still to get off the mark this season and manager Alan James will be hoping the wins start coming soon. Rovers dominated this game but failed in two critical areas, sloppy defending and a lack of shots on target. Round Towers Rovers took the lead just before the break but the home side were straight back in the game immediately from the restart after robbing the ball in middle and setting Pat Tyrell on his way down the right. Tyrell crossed for JP O’Leary to back heel the ball past the keeper at the near post. Rovers became ragged throughout second half and despite having most of the possession they couldn’t find the killer passes up front. The inevitable happened with 5 minutes to go when the home side failed to clear their lines and Round Tower Rovers snatched the points with a late winner. Tullamore Rovers are now in desperate need of a win to kick start their season.
